WELCOME TO THE HOME OF THE ARTS!

School Vision:  At Baton Rouge Center for Visual and Performing Arts, we believe that all students can be motivated to learn at the highest possible levels. Students will be excited about learning, excited about what they learn, and will be able to express their new found knowledge through various modalities. The students will learn through the arts, which reinforce and give relevance to presented content.  Classroom teachers and arts specialists will collaborate and share expertise. Teachers will be facilitators of inquiry and investigation, creating classrooms of authentically engaged students. Parents and teachers will share in the excitement of learning with their children. We will work together as a learning community, continually striving to improve opportunities for student learning.

School Mission:  The mission of Baton Rouge Center for Visual and Performing Arts is to provide a wholesome supportive educational environment that will be conducive to maximum growth and development - academically, creatively, culturally emotionally, socially, and physically - for every student. The strong academic program enriched by the sequential arts curriculum will involve all students in participatory learning.  The various art disciplines will collectively provide a vehicle for enhanced academic learning by making connections through the integration and reinforcement of academic concepts and skills. It is expected that every student will become a self-directed learner, committed to developing his/her maximum potential. The infusion of the arts throughout the curriculum will enhance the quality of aesthetic education. The arts disciplines - music, visual art, drama, dance, and creative writing will allow each child to identify and hone his/her talents. The art-focused curriculum will integrate all aspects of learning - cognitive, psychomotor, and affective- in the development of the whole child.
