BRCVPA hosted a Destination Imagination STEM Day this past Saturday. A very special thank you to VIPS, LSU, and our Destination Imagination Crew for coordinating volunteers and volunteering at our STEM event.
The LSU Honors College volunteers were fantastic with the elementary students!! We were so impressed with the poise, flexibility, and level of positive attitude of all of the volunteers. Our students left the event feeling accomplished and capable. These students are learning to DREAM BIG and that nothing is impossible with a little imagination! GEAUX BRCVPA DI!
Attention Scientists, Historians, and Cultural Specialists!!!
BRCVPA will host its annual 3rd Grade Social Studies Fair and 5th Grade Science Fair on February 1st from 9 am to 12 pm featuring project displays and presentations from all 3rd and 5th grade students.
We are looking for willing adults (without 3rd or 5th grade students at BRCVPA) who have a background in Science or Social Studies to serve as judges.
These events are always fun for everyone, and they are a great opportunity to discover the innovation and interests of the young people in our community.
Please contact Ms. Hebert at email@example.com to volunteer today!
"Let's Geaux to the Moon" was the theme for a FIRST Lego League elementary robotics expo held in December by the Foundation For East Baton Rouge School System.
This fall, 18 teams of fourth-graders from the East Baton Rouge Parish school system pursued a Mission Moon challenge posed by FIRST Lego League Junior. They learned about the moon and explored what kinds of problems they would need to solve to live there.
Exploration of the theme was done with an exclusive Lego Education kit. Using this model as a starting point, teams designed a new model, learning basic engineering and programming skills, and applying those concepts to make their model move.
During the expo, the teams demonstrated their robotic model solutions and shared their learning experiences through posters.
BRCVPA received the best teamwork award and we were also the student choice poster winner. Congratulations, BRCVPA robotics team!!
