Attention Parents of 3rd and 4th Grade Students:

We will offer LEAP Tutoring beginning February 2nd on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 3:30 and 5:15 p.m. We are offering a choice of Reading OR Math (choose one). All tutoring classes will focus on the skills required to be successful on the LEAP 2025 ELA and Math Assessments.

The fee for tutoring will be $200.00 total, which includes a daily snack, workbooks, and instruction from certified teachers. For students enrolled in early afternoon Extended Day, the cost for tutoring will be $80.00. There is no additional tutoring fee for students currently enrolled in the late afternoon Extended Day program.

Space is limited to 45 students and seats will be filled on a first-come first-served basis. All tutoring fees will be due in full by February 2nd, and can be paid with cash, check, money order, or by using a credit card on our online system. Visit BRCVPA.com and click on “online payments.”

On the tutoring dates listed below, students will go to Extended Day at dismissal, eat their snack, and then will be led to the tutoring classroom. The official hours of tutoring are 3:30 – 5:15p.m. Students should be picked up in the cafeteria no later than 5:15 p.m. After 5:15, students who are not picked up will be charged a late fee of $1.00 per minute. Please do not pick up your child(ren) early, as it is disruptive to the rest of the tutoring class.

Doodle for Google 2021

1/11/2021

The annual Doodle for Google contest opens today!

From Google: "Doodles are the fun, surprising, and sometimes spontaneous changes that are made to the Google logo to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous artists, pioneers, and scientists."

One of you will be eligible to be one of the 54 winners from every US State and Territory, one of which will go on to win a $30,000 scholarship, a $50,000 technology package for their school or the non-profit of their choice, and their artwork featured on the Google.com homepage for a day!

The theme this year is "I am strong because..."
"Strength isn’t only about how fast you can run or how many pushups you can do – it’s also about the strength inside of you. How do you rise above troubles and keep moving forward in tough times? When you make mistakes or get scared, what helps you clear the clouds above your head? When people around you are feeling down, how do you use your inner strength to lift them up? Our theme this year invites you to tell us what makes you uniquely strong."

Congratulations to Ms. Manning! Winner of Microgrant from Beanstack!

Zoobean, part of Beanstack, awarded microgrants to bold projects that uplift Black voices. These funds go to our library partners seeking to establish or enhance local programs that advance social justice and equity.

Beanstack Black Voices Microgrants (from Beanstack)
In solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, Zoobean has  awarded microgrants to bold projects that uplift Black voices. We know that our library and school communities are well-equipped to create change at a local level. As Stacey Abrams recently said at the American Libraries Association annual conference, librarians are the bedrock of the community and have the power to reform and transform. Our goal is to provide incremental resources that support the transformations they are already creating.

BRCVPA is a proud recipient of one of these grants!

2021 Vision Boards!

1/9/2021

Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade have been working on creating Vision Boards for the new year. A vision board is a visual representation of your goals. Setting goals for the future and creating a vision board to express those goals helps keep you motivated and on track to achieve them.

The design elements you use, like colors, fonts and shapes, help you set the tone for how you want to approach your goals.

Please check out the vision boards of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students below!

Carpool Reminders!

1/8/2021

Good morning and Happy Friday!

We hope everyone had a great first week back to school after a well deserved winter break. To help us move forward smoothly into the second semester of school here are some reminders to ensure afternoon carpool runs quickly and efficiently.

We will be sending home another Yellow Carpool Tag to every student for the second semester. If you need more than one new carpool tag, please complete this form and let us know how many in the comment section:  www.brcvpa.com/contact-us.html
Picture
Using your cell phone in a school zone is against state law. For the safety of our staff and students, please stay off your cell phone while you are in the carpool lane.
1. Please make sure you have your yellow Carpool Tag prominently displayed while in the carpool line.

2. A regular, plastic pants hanger works wonderfully to hold your carpool tag and hang from your rearview mirror.

3. If your tag isn't hanging in your car, please hold it up when you see Ms. Vicknair and Mrs. Ruble (or the carpool duty teachers) so they can read the number and the name. They are hard to read when sitting on the dashboard.

4. If you have someone picking up your child that does not have a carpool tag, please have them write on another sheet of paper the number and name for your child.

5. There is an app available for you to download to your smartphone for Silent Dismissal. You can use this app to "call" your child's number once you are in line for carpool. If you need information on how to get started using the app, please email Ms. Vicknair at jvicknair@ebrschools.org

6. If you use the app, you will still need to display your tag so that the carpool teachers can let the duty teachers know the names of the students who are ready to be picked up. Mrs. Ruble and Ms. Vicknair will not always be the teachers at carpool, so it is helpful to always display your tag.

7. Afternoon Carpool ENDS at 3:45 every day! If your child isn't picked up by 3:45, they will be checked into extended day for a fee.
