Back to school shopping for next year right now … Are you kidding me? Let me remind you of the chaos that comes with last minute back to school shopping in the summer. Why not shop on-line with www.1stDaySchoolSupplies.com versus in-line at Wal-Mart, Target or Office Depot? In just a few clicks, you will get the exact supplies your teacher requested without the hassle and aggravation that comes with shopping last minute at big box retailers.

STILL TIME TO EARN WITH SHOPAROO!

5/30/2018

The school year has come to an end but Shoparoo earnings year is still in session! There are 3 months left to continue earning donations and monthly sweepstakes entries for BRCVPA! Keep uploading those receipts and spread the word!
Picture
What is Shoparoo?
What is Shoparoo?

Shoparoo is a free app for iOS and Android phones that allows anyone to take pictures of their shopping receipts and earn cash donations for their schools!

Just snap a picture of your grocery receipt on your smartphone, and voila, you've made an instant cash donation! You can also take pictures of your non-grocery receipts (from clothing stores, electronics stores, restaurants, home improvement stores, etc.) for entries into Shoparoo's cash donation sweepstakes that can reward a school up to $15,000! Parents, teachers and other supporters love Shoparoo because:
  • No official registration or school coordination is required
  • Parents are not forced to buy what they wouldn't normally buy
  • The app makes earning money extremely quick and easy
  • Grade competitions make fundraising fun for students and parents
Tens of thousands of schools across the country are using Shoparoo to pay for new supplies, classroom and playground enhancements, field trips, tuition assistance and much more.

What makes Shoparoo Different?
With nothing to buy, sell, collect, count or mail-in, Shoparoo is the most hassle-free fundraising program available. In comparison to other grocery-related fundraising programs, Shoparoo does not require you to buy specific brands or products to raise money for school. This means that EVERY shopping receipt (regardless of whether it's from the biggest super center or your Mom-and-Pop store on the corner) will earn your school an instant donation or entry into our sweepstakes!

Where does the Donation Money come From?
We are former teachers and retail industry executives who have found a novel way of matching schools' needs for financial support with major consumer brands needs for market research. Your receipt data along with the answers you provide in optional surveys are made anonymous and summarized in market research reports that brands purchase.
For example, these companies pay for information such as, "Families in the Phoenix area are 20% more likely than the rest of the country to shop for laundry detergent at a supercenter than a traditional grocery store." Rest assured that all research data is anonymous.

How much money can be raised with Shoparoo?
There is no limit to how much a school can raise with Shoparoo! The top earning schools last year earned thousands of dollars, just by encouraging everyone to take pictures of the day to day shopping receipts!
The more supporters you have at your school, the more you'll earn. That's why schools who had someone to lead the way and spread the word to the community saw these efforts reflected in their fundraising check from Shoparoo at the end of the school year. A school with roughly 50 active participants raise ~$1000 each year through Shoparoo!

1st Grade Collaborative Story!

After a visit with "Zero the Hero" on the last day of school, Mrs. Kershaw's first grade class was inspired to write a "Circle Story" about the number zero. Students learned in a literature lesson early in the year, a "Circle Story" is a kind of fictional story that starts and ends much the say way, mimicking drawing a circle. This lesson was based on the popular picture book by author Laura Numeroff,
If You Give A Mouse A Cookie.

If You Give a Kid A Zero
By Mrs. Kershaw’s First Grade Class

If you give a kid a zero, he will want to write his numbers. If he wants to write his numbers, he will ask for pencil and paper. When writing numbers with his pencil, he may need to use an eraser. If he uses an eraser, he might erase too hard and tear his paper. When the paper tears, he will want to glue it back together. When he uses the glue, his fingers will get sticky. After getting his fingers sticky, he will ask for soap and water. He may accidentally get soap and water on the floor. Then, he will ask for paper towels to dry the floor. If he doesn’t clean it up fast enough, the water may ruin the floor. After the floor gets ruined, he will have to fix it. To fix the floor he will need floor tiles and tools. When you give him tiles and tools, he will try to make a wall. After making a wall, he will want to hang a number line on it. It’s important to remember, the number line must start with zero. When he sees the zero, he will probably begin to count on. As he counts on, each zero reminds him of Zero the Hero. When he thinks of Zero the Hero, he will want to write a zero. When he writes the zero, he will want to write his numbers… again!!!

WHAT A WEEK! Teacher Appreciation week was AMAZING! All week our wonderful parents and PTO showered us with delicious food, drinks, and love! You all went above and beyond to let us know what we mean to your kiddos, and we are extremely grateful!

May is a busy time for teachers, so having the teachers' oasis was a nice getaway amidst the crazy! We know May is packed for our families too, and we acknowledge that you sacrificed your time and resources to make this happen.

We are a lucky faculty and staff to have the privilege of teaching your children, and having your support as we do what we do best! From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!

Race Kit Distribution!

5/9/2018

Shirts, tattoos, and coupons for powder packets, water, and popsicles are being sent home between yesterday and today.

Lower grades teachers may choose to hold students' coupons so they do not get lost, They will communicate that information to their parents, so be on the lookout for that message if coupons are not in your bags.

Students who purchased kits may wear them with athletic-wear suitable for running! Sibling orders were given to the oldest in most cases. Students who earned the reward, but did not purchase race kits may wear free athletic dress!

Students who are not participating should wear their school uniform to school.

Reminder: the picnic starts at 11:00! We will have a PRE-RUN Powder Party at approximately 12:15, and the run will begin with 5th grade students at 12:30 and continue at 5-minute intervals until all grades have run.

We are looking forward to a great event! See you all tomorrow!
