This Summer Ryder was in two motion pictures . In one of the films, Mona Lisa & The Blood Moon , Ryder got to play a “bully” . While he had fun acting he agreed that being a bully is best left in the films!! Ryder also got to boogie on down in Bill & Ted Face The Music . The highlight of this project he said was meeting & working with Keanu Reeves AKA “John Wick” .
Ryder was also in three short films this Summer!!  Last week he got to watch one of the films he was in play on the big screen at the World War Two Museum in New Orleans. This film was entered in the NOLA 48 HR film festival and  placed 2nd in audience favorite out of approx 50 films.
He also auditioned to be a Baton Rouge Parents Cover Kid and made it through. This will be his third year as a cover kid and he is stoked !
Ryder also gave back to the Community this Summer. He attended Camp Kindness where he and his friends did many great things ,including making cancer care packages .He gave his first care package to his “s’emma” (grandma) who is fighting multiple melanoma like a warrior!
He also attended SADD (Students against destructive decisions) Camp for the 5th year in a row. There he learned how to make wise decisions & be a better friend to everyone. He also got to sing & dance on the stage which he loved!! He is excited because next summer he gets to be a camp counselor at SADD camp.
Summer may be almost over, but Ryder isn’t done giving back to the community. He helps bright & early every Saturday morning teach a theater class for underprivileged children and also volunteers every month with his friend at a really cool shop . At this shop, foster parents can go at any time of day to get things they need for their foster children for free!! Ryder wipes down the toys with Clorox , sorts through clothes, etc.

BRCVPA Carpool!

8/30/2019

Thank you all for sticking it out with August carpool! Everyone is learning the procedures, and carpool is getting faster; especially in the morning!

Please remember to display your carpool tags in the window so we can easily see you! Ms. Ruble needs to see them at the street, Ms. Hebert needs to see them in the loop, and the duty teachers need to see them in the loading zone so they know in which car to load which students!

If you need additional tags, or sibling/multi-child tags, CLICK HERE and let us know!

Also remember that school zones are cellphone free zones! Seconds add up in carpool, and distracted driving is both unsafe and causes unnecessary delays.

We appreciate all of you who follow the procedures every single day with patience and a smile! Just a reminder: all students must be picked up by 3:40 p.m. After 3:40, students will be checked into Extended Day and charged a late fee.

Just for fun, check out this video below and let us know which one is most like you! If you don't fall into any of these categories, which ones do you think are missing? Results are anonymous and will be posted next week for a laugh. Ms. Prescott admits to being Becky McBendyrules at her son's school! Watch the video and take the poll!

Just for Fun:

Our new school year is off to a great start so far. Kids are in their classrooms getting used to their daily routine. Now, we have started to assemble our new PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) officers as well. We are still in need of a few good parents to fill the following positions:

1. Vice President (K-2) and Sub Committees
2. Fall Fest Decorations Committee Chairperson

If you are interested in learning more about these positions and believe that you could help, please mark Tuesday September 3, 2019 down in your calendar. A meeting will be held at the school at 5:30pm in the library. Outgoing members will be available to answer any questions you may have and we can finish selecting our new officers. If interested please contact Dani Altazin by email at melissa.d.crockett@gmail.com for more information on the meeting.

We would like to extend another welcome to all of our new and returning families for the 2019-2020 school year! We have met so many of you that have mentioned owning different types of businesses. Like any great family, we want to support each other! If you own a business, or work in the service or food industry, share your business info so we can post it on our BRCVPA Family Businesses Page. The next time someone is in need of a good or service, our hope is they will use one of our BRCVPA Family Businesses first!

We hope our BRCVPA grandparents will join us for our 2019 Grandparents Day Event: Graffiti with Grandparents next Friday, September 6th!

Grandparents will come to the auditorium during their grandkids' arts block time to learn a little about graffiti, and to help their grandchildren create graffiti art that will be hung around the school and used as decoration for our
2nd Grade Mini-Production.

It should be a great day of colorful family fun as we celebrate some of the most wonderful people in our lives, grandparents!

BRCVPA kids give back to the community. Kate and Emma have been doing house chores to purchase World's Finest Chocolate. This week, they delivered their donated chocolate to police officers in the community to thank them for keeping us all safe! The officers were so excited and grateful!  Kate told them all about BRCVPA and how the chocolate sale money would be used to help the school.  It was PRECIOUS!!

STUDENT Club SELECTION Forms Due Tomorrow (3rd - 5th Grade)

8/27/2019

Attention 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Parents:

Today, club rosters were posted at recess, and students were given forms before dismissal.

The form is called the Student Club Selection Form, and is personalized for each child. This form gives the clubs offered to the student, along with instructions for accepting the invitation.

Some students have been offered multiple clubs on the same day. In this case, your child will have to choose between the conflicting clubs. Some students, especially students in 3rd grade may only receive an invitation to one club. This is normal!

In order to secure your child's spot in clubs, please fill out the form, and send it back with payment for club fees and t-shirts tomorrow! Clubs start right after Labor Day, and we need the forms ASAP to make this happen!

This is an exciting time at BRCVPA and we are excited to offer new clubs this year. Please let us know if you have any questions!

4th Grade Opera prep has begun! The students kicked off opera season with a two-day job fair, exploring all of the different crews that make a production possible. Day 1 was "messy day," and day 2 was "loud day." After the job fair, the students will have an opportunity to select the crews they want. We can't wait to see the amazing things this 4th grade class produces!

Ms. Manning received a grant from Starmount’s Strong Schools Grant Awards, and now we will have a BRCVPA Podcast Crew. With this grant  students will be able to participate with next level learning. They will work collaboratively through the entire process of podcast creation from concept to completion, honing their skills of writing, researching, performing and editing along the way. Students will practice problem solving in technical and creative contexts while building a practical skill set applicable to a popular and growing segment of the media marketplace.  At the end of the project students will have a finished product to show, reinforcing how the organizational, creative and technical skills they’ve acquired can produce tangible results.
