Elementary students in East Baton Rouge Parish were invited to create posters illustrating a theme in fire prevention. This year's theme is "Look, Listen, Learn. Be aware - Fire can happen anywhere." The posters were judged by the East Baton Rouge Fire Department based on theme, creativity, and originality. Congratulations, BRCVPA students: Maheba (4th grade, 3rd Place), Ali (3rd grade, 1st Place), Calvez (PK, 1st Place), and Lucy (Kindergarten, 3rd Place)! They all placed in the annual East Baton Rouge Parish Fire Prevention Poster Contest. Tuesday evening, they were recognized and rewarded at the annual Fire Prevention Banquet by the Baton Rouge Fire Department and Mayor Sharon Weston-Broome. We are so proud of each of them! A special thank you to everyone who participated in the poster contest. We had some outstanding entries, and the competition was tough!
Fourth grade students have been working hard creating and preparing for the annual Opera. They have come up with a company name, theme, and have already written the script. Students are now working hard composing the music and designing costumes. These are some fun pictures of the job fair where they had a chance to try out all the different crews. We hope you will join us for the final performance in December!
Wow! We had a terrific turnout at the River Center today for the annual EBR Magnet Mania event. So many families stopped by our table for information related to our program. They are eagerly awaiting the opening of the application period window which begins on Monday, October 8th. If you know anyone interested in applying, please send them the "How to Apply" link on our school website for more information regarding the application process.
A special thank you to the following people for coming out to the River Center to show their support for BRCVPA and our incredible program:

What an incredible event! Once again, our BRCVPA families came out in full force as they joined us in a colorful night of fun! A very special thank you to T.J. Ribs for hosting our BRCVPA Family Dinner Night, and for helping our students Tie-Dye our shirts.
On one of your visits to campus, you may have noticed our Good Deeds board outside of the office. This is a place where we recognize the Good Deeds we see from our amazing students each day!
We have a Good Deeds Google form, into which teachers, staff, and parents can enter the good deeds they see happening all around them.
These deeds are then written onto post-its, and displayed for others to see! Student good deeds are displayed outside the office, and teacher good deeds are displayed in the teacher workroom.
If you see or hear about Good Deeds happening, please, use the form and let us know!
Here are just a few of the student Good Deeds we've gotten so far this year:
