Ms. Montero has been teaching for 14 years: 6 of those years were in Pre-K and 7 have been in Kindergarten. This is her 4th year at BRCVPA. We asked Ms. Montero a few questions to get to know her a little bit more!
- What is your favorite subject/lesson/area to teach?
I used to enjoy teaching ELA the best, but it’s evolved into loving teaching math.
- When did you decide to become a teacher? Was there something specific?
I loved my Kindergarten teacher and class so much that I wanted to be just like Mrs. Wilson, my Kindergarten teacher. I even played her in the production we put on at the end of the year! I’ve known ever since that I wanted to teach.
- What is a memorable moment in your teaching career?
The most memorable moment in my career actually happened just last year. Students in my classroom were featured in an article about the arts in our community. InRegister magazine showed us weaving paper alligators to go along with our Louisiana study. It was a pretty neat experience.
- What is your goal as a teacher?
My goal as a teacher is to make sure all students are loved properly and that they grow as people in every way possible. I focus equally on social skills and curriculum in Kindergarten.
- What would you like us to know about your family?
My daughter is a BRCVPA alum. She’s the reason I wanted to come to BRCVPA to begin with. Her experience made me fall in love with the culture of the school. She and my pup keep me pretty busy outside of the school walls.
- Is there anything else you would like to include?
I’m happy to be in a school that respects the arts as BRCVPA does. I love the team I get to work with and the families I’m able to connect with. It’s truly a wonderful place to be!
