Our 3rd grade All-Star artists completed their most recent artwork in honor of Black History Month. Their pieces were inspired by Alma Thomas, an amazing artist who focused on sharing her love for art with her community.
She was the first graduate of Howard University's art department and maintained connections to that university through her life. She achieved success as an African American female artist despite the segregation and prejudice of her time. BRCVPA students took an emotional inventory to drive their color choices for this mosaic style piece. Each ring created represents their own feelings. The smallest rings are the emotions that they feel the least amount of time recently, and the larger rings represent how they feel most of the time. Each student did a beautiful job of making this project their own, and it was a great way to check on how these sweet kiddos have been feeling lately! Our second graders put on quite the show before Mardi Gras break. We've got such talented students and an amazing arts staff! |
