Manners of the Heart and EBR Schools have partnered in a student story-writing contest. Using Manners of the Heart characters, write and illustrate a story about a time in Merryville when the characters needed to learn a lesson about respecting others. The contest is open to 4th and 5th graders. One winner each from 4th and 5th grades will be selected to advance to the district level. Please encourage your child to participate. Entries must be turned in to your child’s teacher by February 10, 2017. Use the links below to learn about the Manners of the Heart, the characters, and the setting.

Congratulations! We are excited to announce that Kelly J. placed in the Louisiana DOTD Aviation art contest. Kelly now has the opportunity to compete in the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) Art Contest.
We are so proud of her and we will keep you posted on the outcome of the national contest! Monday, all students who sold 15 or more #1 Fundraising items were treated to the video van, which is a mobile gaming van! They had a blast! To celebrate good behavior in January, we had a Manners of the Heart Photo Booth Day! The kids had a great time, (and so did the teachers)! Each class took a smiling photo and a silly one, followed by small group pictures with friends! Scroll through and check them out! Have a great Baton Rouge Center Weekend! Today, Ms. Montero's class learned about what teachers do for our community and students. Hayden made a connection between Mr. Loflin being a teacher and what the book said. Too cute!
😍 "Mister Loflin class is on a field trip." Kindergarten needs Mardi Gras beads for the parade on Friday, February 24, 2017. Please send in your throws as soon as possible. If possible, please sort the beads by length and group them into packs of ten for our little ones. We also need stuffed animals and throws. We hope to see you there!
At the beginning of the school year Mrs. Cruz's class read Flat Stanley. We decorated versions of Flat Stanleys and sent them off to explore the world. Our flat friends have been jet setting to places like Waelder, Texas, Houston, Texas, Evans, Georigia, Lake Arenal, Costa Rica, Israel, and Jordan. Here are a few of their adventures. Click on the button below to read about Emma's adventures in Jordan and Israel.
Pippin, a fifth grade student, shared her writing about the book Frindle to Mrs. Savant's third grade ELA students.
