Dr. Louis L. Moore will be recognized and receive a National Magnet School of Excellence Merit Award on behalf of the school during an awards ceremony held at Magnet Schools of America’s 40th National Conference hosted by Dallas Independent School District, April 18-22, 2023.
Magnet School of Excellence Awards are only given to a select group of magnet schools. Schools of Excellence are eligible to receive monetary awards and are eligible to be named the nation’s top Elementary, Secondary, or New & Emerging Magnet School. One of the Schools of Excellence will also be selected to win $5,000 and the Dr. Ronald P. Simpson Distinguished Merit Award, which is considered the most prestigious magnet school award in the nation. To receive a national merit award, members of Magnet Schools of America must submit a detailed application that is scored by a panel of educators. These schools are judged and scored on their demonstrated ability to raise student academic achievement, promote racial and socioeconomic diversity, provide integrated curricula and instruction, and create strong family and community partnerships that enhance the school’s magnet theme. To learn more about the national merit awards program, please visit www.magnet.edu. Remember that Class and club pictures will be taken tomorrow.
Reminders for this day: 1. We encourage students to wear their brightly colored BRCVPA Spirit Shirts and uniform bottoms. It's okay if you don't have a spirit shirt; a regular burgundy uniform top is perfect, too. 2. Students in CLUBS - Should wear their club shirt under their BRCVPA Spirit Shirt or burgundy uniform shirt. They will take Class pictures first, then remove the top shirt for their club picture. 3. PUT YOUR CHILD'S NAME ON ALL CLOTHING! Please use a permanent marker and write the name large enough so it can be read. We recommend first initial and last name. Especially the shirts that the Club students will be taking off. We do not want a pile of unclaimed shirts, and we know you don't want to lose a shirt! Our PBIS Star Celebration for January will be FRIDAY, JANUARY 27 at designated grade level times! Friday is the 100th day of school, and we are celebrating being 100 Days Brighter with a DJ/Emcee Led Dance and Glow Party! Students in 1st - 5th grades are invited to wear glow accessories with their uniforms. Pre-K and Kindergarten are welcome to wear the costumes indicated by their teachers.
This incentive is for students with As and Bs in conduct, and zero write-ups for the month. Your child's teacher will contact you today if they are not eligible for the incentive. This summer, kindergartener Jayce visited the MLK Center in Atlanta, GA. He learned so much! He was able to visit the original Ebenezer Baptist Church, Dr. King's childhood home, burial monuments, and the Philanthrophy Center!
