 A special thank you to the Knock, Knock Children's Museum and the parents of our BRCVPA pre-k students for helping us make our pre-k field trip a huge success. Our students learned so much, and they had a blast exploring all the learning centers. Just another great day in BRCVPA pre-k!

  Our Kindergarten and Pre-K students were treated to a visit from "Momma Jen," who is passionate about educating students and families on proper hand-washing techniques to prevent the spread of germs! Her children attend FLAIM, and she was so glad to get to come and visit us at BRCVPA! Momma Jen is working hard to spread the clean-hands message all over East Baton Rouge Parish! We are so glad she came; she was a lot of fun! She has shared this one minute video to hopefully cut down on some of the absences due to illness! Watch this video, and help us spread the word on CLEAN! Today we had a great day partnering with Volunteers in Public Schools and Enercon Engineering. Thank you all for being great community partners and for sharing all your knowledge with our students!

It was a spectacular night full of food, family, and fun! The LSU Women’s Basketball team would like to invite all of the EBR Schools to celebrate being out for Mardi Gras and to enjoy a game on Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m. Tickets for all EBR School students are $1 and can be purchased at lsutix.net. They are also having a Mardi Gras Mambo Parade for children under the age of 12. LSU will provide the throws but the children can bring their own decorated wagons or masks for the parade. 
The 2019 BRCVPA Variety Show will certainly go down in history as one of our greatest shows. Thank you to all our participants, families, and judges. Also, a very special thank you to Ms. Ruble, Ms. Wells, and the rest of the arts staff for organizing such a spectacular event! Keep up the great work!
#MAGMONTH #MAGMONTHEBR As a part of our Manners of the Heart monthly incentive, our students participated in a round of citizenship challenges built to strengthen the MOH Heart Attributes: cooperation, expression, resourcefulness, and following directions. It was a great day of team-building exercises!  Congratulations, Brandon! He is our BRCVPA Spelling Bee Champion. This weekend he went on to compete in the regional spelling bee where he placed in the top 13. We couldn't be more proud of him!  How else to wrap up a fun Mardi Gras unit? Well by making floats, of course. The 3rd graders used creativity and team work to plan and construct their floats, ELA style. Each group chose a different concept to show off their knowledge by containing the term, definition, 2 examples, and a slogan. I was highly impressed by their excitement and execution of the project. The Krewes ranged anywhere from the Krewe of Punctuation to the Krewe of Main Idea. Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!
#MAGMONTH #MAGMONTHEBR Have you been trying to find those delicious girl scout cookies that remind you of being a kid? Well, now is your chance to experience a blast from the past. Stop by BRCVPA on Saturday, February 23rd from 10:00-2:00 to purchase cookies from Girl Scout Troop 10550. They will have a tent set up outside ready for you when you arrive. The cookies are $4.00 per box. Thank you for supporting our BRCVPA Girl Scouts!  This is a reminder that EBR Schools have early dismissal at 12:45 today, February 20th.
We will have extended day for those who are already registered in our extended day program. If your child is not enrolled in the extended day program, but you would like to utilize the program for your child tomorrow, please email gboudreaux@ebrschools.org. The cost is $25.00 total per child from 12:45 pm - 5:30 pm. In ELA last week, students discovered the fun of poetry. Learning what a poem is good for, our third graders examined a piece by Emily Dickinson about the Sun and his Yellow Plan through creative movement, careful observation, and critical thinking. Students applied what they already knew about figurative language, the plant life cycle, the solar system, force and motion, weather and climate to understand Emily’s poem, then wrote their own weather poems. They had a such a good time, they’re planning to explore a Walt Whitman poem about the stars next week then write their own! #MagMonth #MagMonthEBR |
