This is just a reminder about the East Baton Rouge Parish School System’s important millage renewal election on Saturday, April 29. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Please remember, this millage renewal is not an increase in the current tax rate. The two proposals on the ballot help us provide stable class sizes, learning materials, and extracurricular offerings. They also support salaries and benefits for school system employees. This is a very important tax for our future. Please remember to get out and vote this Saturday, April 29. Thank you for helping us Build the Future of Baton Rouge.
![]() Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, MuZeta Chapter, at Southern University holds an annual awards ceremony to honor outstanding Fifth grade students. Our BRCVPA outstanding students to be honored are Kierstyn L. and Kosi O. Zeta Phi Beta Sororit is a comunity conscious, action-oriented organization with the ideals of Community Service, Finer Womanhood, Sisterly Love, and Scholarship. In keeping with this sorority’s mission to others and the promotion of scholarship, they provide opportunities for children and youth through various local and national activities. Their theme this year is “Current Events That Have Affected My Life.” Family and friends are invited to attend the ceremony on April 30, 2017, 4:00 pm, at Southern University. It is our great pleasure to have Kierstyn and Kosi represent our school. Students in Mr. Fuller's Harp & Keyboard class did an outstanding job today during their recital. We are so proud of each of them and Mr. Fuller for the hard work they have put in this year. Job well done, everyone!
2nd graders enjoyed a fun filled day at Nottoway Plantation in White Castle. Students took a guided tour of the mansion, learning more about the Antebellum South and the History of the Civil War. We even took a walk on the levee to discuss the significance of the "Mighty Mississippi"! Thank you to all the families that came out to join us. We had a wonderful day!
Last Call for Seussical Jr. Program Ads!
If you want to place an ad for a business or to celebrate a student in our 5th grade production program, the last day to place your order and email your ad is this Friday, April 28th! Please email Ms. Dafoe at kdafoe@ebrschools.org if you have any questions. A New Math Series in the BRCVPA Library!
"Cover action shots, a big container truck, a stop watch, and pyramid arrows draw attention to topics in this much-needed series. Each book contains world applications, modern and historical aspects, a Hands On or Try This section, and answers to questions posed in the text. Each time a question is presented in the text, the page is noted for the answer. Word Band definitions are succinct and directly applicable to the illustration on that page. Math and science are areas where schools struggle to help student progress. Combination of science and math, and creative presentations of photographs and illustrations offer an excellent series. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED." Don't forget, tomorrow is the first day of BRCVPA Students Saying the Pledge on WBRZ!
