Our Second Graders are excited to kick off our 2021-2022 BRCVPA Production Season with our 2nd Grade Mini-Production: Kyoshi's Walk!
Kiyoshi's Walk Is the story of a young Japanese American boy taking a walk with his grandfather to discover how poems are created. Sadly, we cannot have a live parent audience, but all family members are welcome to attend via YouTube live! Stay tuned for more details and a show trailer!

A couple of questions we wanted to answer:
This is a reminder that Fall Yearbook pictures are TOMORROW! Tomorrow is a free dress day for all students.

What is Junior Achievement?
We have kicked off our next Beanstack Reading Challenge! Students at BRCVPA are challenged to read and log as many minutes as they can this year with the ultimate goal of our students reading 1,000,000 (a million) minutes as a school by May 6th! If we do it, we will celebrate with a school-wide Million-Minute Celebration! Beanstack is a web and mobile app used to track independent reading time, and help build a culture of reading in school and at home. Beanstack makes it easier for you to help kids track reading, keep kids motivated to read, and provide feedback and insights into the reading habits at your school. What's in it for your child? Besides the many many many benefits of reading, there are prizes! There will be occasional class prizes (parties, extra library time, etc), and teacher prizes! And don't forget: if we complete the challenge, there will be a Minute to Win it Field Day Celebration at the end of the year! We will post updates on the blog regularly to keep everyone motivated! Let's sign up and get reading! Click the image below to enroll your child today! BRCVPA are you ready to build our reading community by teaming up to read 1,000,000 minutes this school year? Did you know that reading everyday can improve brain connectivity, increase your vocabulary, improve comprehension, and empower you to empathize with other people? So let's make our brains grow! If our school reaches this goal we will celebrate with a Million Minute Whole School Event. Honest participation is required.
Spencer Studios Photographers will be on campus to create individual school day portraits next Tuesday, September 28th. These photos will be used for the BRCVPA 2021-2022 Yearbook!
The photographers arrive first thing in the morning and move pretty quickly, so please have your kiddos here on time! All students can wear free dress for picture day! Every student will take a picture, regardless of whether or not they order a package. If you would like to order a package, please fill out the envelope that was sent home. If you do not have one, please see the information below. Picture packages can also be paid for online at www.SpencerStudios-BR.com. Online payments must be submitted no later than 2:00 p.m. next MONDAY (the day before pictures). At the beginning of the school year, we challenged parents to complete the Back-to-School Parent To-Do-List, and we promised prizes for the grade level with the most participation.
3rd Grade Parents had the most participation in 3 categories, and the most overall participation so they will be rewarded with a Pizza Party at/after lunch this Friday! Parental support is extremely important, and we are so grateful to have so many amazing parents at BRCVPA in all grades! Our original free dress day for participation of the BRCVPA/EBRPL Summer Reading Challenge was postponed due to Hurricane Ida, but we have rescheduled it for THIS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 24TH!
Students on the list linked below are invited to wear free dress Friday! We have reached out to EBRPL for an updated list, and will update ours when we receive it. If your child is not listed, and you know they participated, please send a screenshot from Beanstack showing they were registered for the challenge to BRCVPA@ebrschools.org by Friday morning. To get this:
Our September Manners of the Heart Event will be Trunk or Treat on October 1st in the BRCVPA Parking Lot!
Great news! Our water bottles are IN! All backorders will be filled next week, along with spirit shirt backorders. If you have not placed an order yet, both water bottles and spirit shirts can be ordered ONLINE through our online payment system. Water bottles are $12.00 each and spirit shirts are $10.00 each.
Parents: when you get your child's water bottle, please remember to LABEL IT WITH YOUR CHILD'S NAME so we can return lost items to their owner. Our September Manners of the Heart Positive Behavior Incentive will be a Trunk or Treat in the BRCVPA parking lot that will take place on October 1st!
We are looking for parents willing to decorate their trunks and hand out candy and/or small toys for the event. Can't make it? No worries! You can still participate by donating individually wrapped candy or small toys to be handed out to the students. More details to come, but we definitely need volunteers to make this happen! Click the image below to volunteer! We have some exciting news! BRCVPA is bringing back Art for the Sky! Above you can see some shots from the one we did in 2016. Those red and black areas are BRCVPA STUDENTS, PARENTS, AND TEACHERS!
Our 2021 Art for the Sky Project will be a famous dog (final results will be revealed after the project is done). We are hoping to be able to allow parents to participate in this fun event by the time it rolls around in November. If we can't, students will still get to participate (masked, of course). The actual event (with all of the students and volunteers) only takes about 15 minutes. The design is laid out ahead of time by the artist and BRCVPA 5th Graders. Here are some things you need to know:
Click here to watch the final product video from the 2016 project! The online payment system will be open until midnight for parents wishing to pay the $14.00 for the remaining Frozen Treat Friday dates for the rest of the semester, or you can send $2.00 with your child tomorrow to pay for their treat!
