During the cold months of December through April, we know that there are kids in the Baton Rouge community that do not have coats, whose parents cannot afford coats, kids that start their day at a bus stop shivering, and kids who enter a school needing time to "warm up" to start their classes. That is what "Pat's Coats for Kids" is all about and the reason Pat continues to champion the effort. Since its inception more than a million dollars have been received, reflecting 83,000 purchases and distributions to 125 schools. In addition, we have collected more than 197,000 used coats. In 2016 we were able to fulfill the added need because of the horrible floods, by distributing 11,000 coats to children in our area. Check out our very own BRCVPA Super Stars who recently were part of the WBRZ Pat's Coats for Kids Promotional Commercial. What an awesome experience for our students! Please check out the video, and consider making a donation today!

Kayln B. sang a vocal solo for a public audience during the Talented Music Recital on October 28, 2017. She wore her Cinderella (pre-princess) costume and sang "In my Own Little Corner" from Rodger and Hammerstein's Cinderella. The recital showcased the Talented Music students from BRCVPA. The next Talented Music performance will be on the morning of Saturday, December 9, 2017; at the Main Street Market downtown.

The votes have been tallied, and the recipient is...Ms. Brown! Congratulations to our 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year, Monica Brown! Ms. Brown has been teaching for 15 years. She has taught all subjects, but spent much of her teaching career as a 4th grade math teacher. She moved to BRCVPA in 2015 and taught 4th Grade ELA for 2 years. Now she is doing an AMAZING job as our 3rd Grade ELA teacher! Ms. Brown will represent BRCVPA at the EBRPSS Teacher of the Year Ceremony, and will be in the running for East Baton Rouge Parish Teacher of the Year as well! Here are some things parents and students had to say about Ms. Brown:
