Due to the storm strengthening overnight and the recent closures of state offices and local institutions, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System will begin early dismissal at 1:30 p.m. for elementary students today, 10/28/2020. This morning’s forecast indicates an earlier wind arrival time than previously predicted, which could potentially impact transportation functions. Out of an abundance of caution, all schools will be closed by 3:00 p.m.. THERE WILL BE NO EXTENDED DAY SERVICES.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to make the best decisions possible under these unpredictable circumstances. Please stay tuned to local news outlets, ebrschools.org, and the EBR Schools Facebook page (@EBRPschools) for more information. As always, the safety of our students and faculty is our top priority. Good morning! It looks like the storms will begin today at 11:00 and continue with thunderstorms throughout the afternoon and into the evening. School will be open, but parents may choose to keep their child at home to participate in virtual instruction. If you are keeping your child at home, please make sure you complete the attendance tracker and follow the 100% virtual schedule.
The safety of our BRCVPA family is our number one priority. Have a great Baton Rouge Center Day! Based on the latest weather forecasts and guidance from state and local agencies, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System will be open on Wednesday, October 28, 2020. The district is still actively monitoring the storm, and updates will be provided if the situation changes. Please stay tuned to local news outlets, ebrschools.org, and the EBR Schools Facebook page (@EBRPschools) for more information.
Baton Rouge Center Students and Families,
This is a great opportunity to share our artistic abilities with the community. Adam Smith, EBR Interim Superintendent, is in search of the best of the best student artwork from our students. The artwork will be displayed on the district's holiday greeting card. All artwork should be submitted on an 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper. The composition can be landscape or portrait, and the theme this year is "Seasons Greetings from the East Baton Rouge Parish School System". Be sure to use bold colors!! Label the back of the artwork with your grade-level, school, and teacher's name. You can drop the artwork off at the school, or you can mail it to: Liberty High School Attention: EBR Fine Arts Department 1105 Lee Drive Baton Rouge, LA 70808 Coming soon: BRCVPA Turkey Trot! Kennedy entered the Girl Scout Louisiana East's BLING your WAGON contest earlier this year, but because of the pandemic, the judging was delayed until recently. Sometimes the EBR District issued Chromebook will ask for your old password. If that happens, do the following:
1. click Forgot Old Password. 2. Click Proceed Anyway. The local data that is lost is unimportant, since all of the materials, work, and activities are stored in the Google cloud which is synced daily. That's it! Kindergarten students have been discussing the question "What is Art?" and learning about when drawing first began. They began by reading a book called "The First Drawing" where they learned about the earliest cave drawings. Next, they began their roles as little cave people by foraging for natural art media from nature. This week students began using those materials to create their very own cave drawings by rubbing leaves and painting with mud that they mixed.
