Wow! What a day! Thank you to every parent who volunteered for Junior Achievement, Finger Food Friday, Cafeteria Duty, and 5th Grade Pumpkin Carving! The 5th Grade Parents certainly set a high bar for Finger Food Friday. We are STUFFED!
We so appreciate everyone who took time out of their busy Friday! Thank you all. Have a great weekend! Happy Halloween!

Veterans Day is November 11th! Since we are unable to gather in the gym, BRCVPA's Veterans Day Program is going virtual. We want to continue our tradition of honoring family veterans in a slideshow. Please complete this form for each veteran family member you would like honored.
If you have already submitted a photo from a previous year's show, we still have it, and you do not need to submit it again (unless you just want to be extra sure). We look forward to honoring our family Veterans on Thursday, November 11th. Please click the American Flag image below to complete the form. Thank you! Thank you to the parents who sent "Thank Yous" to our teachers yesterday! It is so nice to read your kind words! I know these comments sure put smiles on our teachers' faces.
If you didn't get a chance to thank a teacher yesterday, and want to do so, please CLICK HERE! We will share your message next week! (If you have issues with the platform, and would rather email your thanks, send it to BRCVPA@ebrschools.org and we can post it on your behalf)! What do you want to be when you grow up? Tomorrow is your chance to show off a "Drug Free Future Me" by dressing as what you see yourself as in the future. About Red Ribbon Week:
National Family Partnership, formerly the National Federation of Parents for Drug Free Youth, was established as a grassroots, nonprofit organization in 1980 by a handful of concerned and determined parents who were convinced they should begin to play a leadership role in drug prevention. Since its founding thirty years ago, NFP has devoted its efforts to the well-being of youth. Today, NFP is a national leader in drug prevention education & advocacy. Our mission is to lead and support our nation’s families and communities in nurturing the full potential of healthy, drug free youth. NFP provides drug awareness by sponsoring the annual National Red Ribbon Campaign™. Since its beginning in 1985, the Red Ribbon has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction cause by drugs in America. In 1988, NFP sponsored the first National Red Ribbon Celebration. Today, the Red Ribbon serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities. Tomorrow is your chance to show off AS MANY COLORS AS YOU CAN!! Drug Free Comes in Many Colors is our theme for Thursday October 28 and we can't wait to see what you come to school wearing! Congratulations to our 2021-2022 Teacher of the Year, Ms. Jordan Malensek! Ms. Malensek is a beloved figure at BRCVPA. She currently teaches 3rd Grade ELA, but she joined us as a 5th Grade Math Student Teacher named Ms. Berry! She moved to 4th Grade ELA for her second semester of student teaching. Immediately after she graduated, we knew we better snag her quickly before another school did! She stepped right in as a Kindergarten Teacher for a semester, and the kids loved her! In fact, some of those very students are BRCVPA 5th Graders today. Ms. Malensek taught 2nd Grade Science for 2 years before moving to 3rd Grade. Although she loves ELA, 2nd Grade Science was her favorite!
Ms. Malensek is from Alexandria, and has a younger brother named John. She went to LSU in Baton Rouge where she was the Vice President of her sorority. While at LSU she took dance classes from a former Saintsation, and brought those dance skills to BRCVPA Summer Camp, where she taught dance. She is married to a wonderful man named Daniel, and is a dog mom to Astro. We are incredibly proud to call her our own, and we look forward to many more years with her at BRCVPA! Here are some of the wonderful things students, teachers, and parents had to say on the nomination form:
On Tuesday, we continue to celebrate Red Ribbon Week by dressing up as our favorite decade expressing our pledge to remain "Drug Free for DECADES!" Students can dress up in 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, etc. clothing and show off their styles! About Red Ribbon Week:

Congratulations to our Student of the Year, Cecilia Pham! Cecilia has been a longtime student of BRCVPA and a shining star at our school! Cecilia’s classmates nominated her for student of the year and said some wonderful things about her character: “Cecilia is responsible, kind, and sweet. She gets her work done and does not talk in class.” “She always is on task and always follows directions. She is a star student always.” “Cecilia is nice to everyone, follows the rules, she listen the first time and she's a good friend. She will make a good Student of the Year.” Congratulations to Cecilia! As the weather cools down, the jackets and sweaters come out! We are thrilled about the cooler weather, and wanted to remind families of some important dress code reminders:
