Health Centers in Schools is offering FREE flu immunizations to all BRCVPA Students on Thursday, December 3rd.

Only students that have turned in their 2015-2016 Flu Vaccination Consent Form will receive the vaccine. 

Thursday, December 3rd- Last call for 4th Grade Opera DVD orders.​  Send your order form and payment of $20 to your child's classroom teacher.

Friday, December 4th- Magnet Application Period Ends

                                          Southdowns Field Trip for Performing Groups
                                          Turn in permission notes immediately.  We will leave school at 9:00, performance will begin at 10:00, and we will return in time for lunch.  Groups attending are Recorder/Percussion, Choristers, Dance Troupe, Talented 12, Jump Jive and Giggle, Band, and Orchestra.

During the school year, BREC on the Geaux visits various schools around the Parish during their recess hours to give students the opportunity to experience an active and enhanced mobile recess program. BREC on the Geaux works with grades Pre K through 5th grade each week using fun and creative ways to encourage locomotive skills and team-building activities with guided instruction.

66 Rising Stars Opera Company! 

Congratulations, fourth graders! Our annual BRCVPA opera performance was a huge success. We had students from Claiborne Elementary come out for the daytime performance of A Pineapple Problem. They enjoyed asking our crews questions about how they created the script, designed the costumes, and even wanted to know about how they built the foot lights! After the show, we took a group picture with the Claiborne Elementary students and then they took some individual pictures with the actors. Well done, 66 Rising Stars Opera Company! 

We would like to say thank you to all the volunteers who worked so hard to transform our school into a Tropical Rain Forest for fall fest. Your hard work created a wonderful evening of fun and entertainment for our BRCVPA friends and families. Thank you all so much! 

The Science Club competed in a STEM contest at Baton Rouge Magnet High School against other elementary schools. Two BRCVPA teams placed first and second in the spaghetti tower-building contest. One of our teams placed first in the aluminum boat-building contest. BRCVPA won first place overall!!!!!! Students had the opportunity to view science exhibits put on by BRMHS students and LSU. We also enjoyed seeing many BRCVPA alumni at the contest!

Congratulations, Ms. Wells! Thank you for representing BRCVPA as the Elementary Teacher of the Year for the 2014-2015 school year. You have continued to make us proud!

Pre-K students planted radish seeds, watered them, and watched them grow! This past week, they harvested their radishes and enjoyed a great treat! Thank you Ms. Eberhard for helping our Pre-K students learn more about where food comes from.

Known worldwide as the "Ambassadors of Goodwill"™, the iconic Harlem Globetrotters visited BRCVPA. "The ABCs of Bullying Prevention," was designed by the Globetrotters in coordination with the National Campaign to Stop Violence (NCSV), the program focuses on Action, Bravery, and Compassion, comprising the ABCs. The program targets 6-12 year-old kids and involves Globetrotter players discussing the three key words in the ABCs and tools that kids can use on a daily basis to reduce bullying.  The Globetrotters equate what it means to be part of a team to how kids can offer support to one another to help stop bullying.
Students frequently cite bullying as a cause of violence that they experience, and the rate at which kids are reporting this cause is increasing.  We hope that by reaching these kids early in their lives, they might be taught valuable lessons in character and empathy from the positive role models of the Harlem Globetrotters.
