Thank you, Mrs. Heather Finke & Ms. Ashley Beck for all you have done for the BRCVPA and Baton Rouge community. Together, these ladies spearheaded a school-community-centered flood relief effort in the period following the flood. Together they gathered and motivated our school community to provide:
- Hundreds of meals to those cleaning and restoring homes. - Cleaning supplies, school uniforms and supplies, and basic necessities. - A BRCVPA Family Relief Facebook page with information, updates, and resource links to direct families to the best places to find what they needed. - Manpower! (They gathered volunteers to wash clothes, cook and deliver meals, and gut homes) - $5,000+ in donated gift cards to affected BRCVPA families and loved ones. -BRCVPA Family Needs Tree (PHYSICAL - in the school office and DIGITAL Form) to allow families to anonymously communicate their needs. They were nominated by the BRCVPA Community as Hometown Heroes, and were chosen out of hundreds of nominees to be recognized at the Love on Louisiana: An Essence Hometown Heroes Tribute event on Sunday, November 20th. Essence is collaborating with Beyoncé, Tina Knowles-Lawson, Solange Knowles, and Kelly Rowland for Love On Louisiana: An Essence Hometown Heroes Tribute to raise $1 million for families in Baton Rouge after this summer’s flooding. The holiday dinner and awards ceremony held on Sunday, November 20th, honored a few special hometown heroes, including our very own BRCVPA Heart Club, for their work helping our community after the devastating flood. Beyoncé and her charity organization BeyGOOD will continue to provide support. The goal is to raise one million dollars for Louisiana families and fundraise for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge. Congratulations, ladies! We thank you for your support and service to the community. To everyone who helped and participated, we share this award and recognition with you! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
