Dear BRCVPA Families,
This year our whole school read the book Malala’s Magic Pencil as part of a school-wide program designed to bring our community closer together. As we learn about Malala’s life of service, each grade level is completing a project to help people in our community. Third Grade has chosen to help the homeless in our area. Earlier this month, a representative from St. Vincent de Paul Homeless Shelter came to speak to our students about their needs. After the visit, our third graders decided to make care packages for homeless individuals filled with much-needed items. Please talk with your child about specific items you all can donate to help fill these packages and help third grade help the homeless. Recommended items include: new socks, non-perishable snacks (crackers, etc.), and travel-size toiletries like toothpaste and deodorant. Please also send in empty (gently used) gift bags, tote bags, and sturdy shopping bags for us to pack with items. These bags will become our care packages for homeless individuals. Students may begin bringing items (care package bags and supplies) to school this week. Please bring all donated items by Monday, April 8th. Thank you for your support of this important project! Third Grade Teachers
